Luca Day Joins Momentum Motorsports for Remainder of 2025 Ligier Junior Formula Championship

April 14, 2025 — Momentum Motorsports is excited to announce the addition of rising star Luca Day to its Ligier Junior Formula Championship (Ligier JFC) roster for the remainder of the 2025 season. The 15-year-old Canadian talent will step into the team’s open-wheel program with his sights set on driver development, competitive results and future advancement within the Momentum Motorsports program.

Day’s addition marks a new chapter in his motorsports career. After making waves in karting over the last four years with Ben Cooper Racing and Parolin Canada’s Karting Bandits, Day has taken his first steps toward climbing the motorsport ladder. In early 2024, he began testing with USF Juniors and later traveled to France to train under F1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve at the prestigious FEED Racing program. Most recently, he competed in a Formula FARA race at Homestead-Miami Speedway before making his Ligier JFC debut at NOLA Motorsports Park in March.

“Luca has shown a maturity and dedication that’s well beyond his years,” explained Phil Picard, Team Owner of Momentum Motorsports. “We’ve been watching his progress, and we’re excited to help him take the next step in his racing career. He’s a strong fit for our program, and we’re confident he’ll be able to continue to hone his skills and earn results as the 2025 season progresses.”

Luca’s journey began at just eight years old when he fell in love with racing at an indoor karting facility. By the time he turned 11, he was a regular at the front of the field in major karting events. With 2024 dedicated to testing and training, 2025 represents his formal debut season in the world of formula racing — an opportunity he is eager to seize.

“I am excited to join Momentum Motorsports and look forward to working with Phil and his team for the rest of the 2025 season,” explained Day. “The team has already shown success with a podium finish at the first event weekend, and I only hope that I will be able to add to their hardware collection this year.”

Despite being new to open-wheel competition, Luca brings an impressive resume of karting success and an unshakable determination to climb the motorsport ladder with an ultimate goal of racing professionally. Luca will make his debut with Momentum Motorsports at Road America for the next round of the Ligier Junior Formula Championship in just over one month, taking place over the May 15 –18 weekend in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
